Can I Eat Whatever I Want if I’m Exercising REALLY Hard?

Question: Can I eat whatever I want if I’m exercising really hard?

Good question. The answer is:

In a word, no.

The truth is that exercise alone is a terrible method of weight loss. If you have a solid nutrition plan in place, exercising can give your results a little boost. That said, it’s rare for someone to see significant weight loss from exercise without making significant changes to their diet. In fact, it’s not uncommon for marathon runners to actually *gain* weight during their training, for this exact reason.

That’s why when we work with weight loss client, the primary focus is on nutrition.

Exercise will help you burn more fat (as opposed to lean tissue), but it won’t have a dramatic impact on your weight itself. You need to focus more on the calories in.

One important caveat is that exercise can often *lead* to other healthy habits, like better food choices. So when someone claims they’ve lost weight without changing their diet, they may have done so without *focusing* on their diet, but more than likely their eating habits changed.

Stay busy. Stay fit.
